Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous engineering thermoplastic known for high impact strength, dimensional stability, heat resistance and — in natural grades — optical clarity. It is processed mainly by injection moulding.

The grades we supply are compounded for specific needs: standard flow grades in three viscosities (K-20, K-30, K-40), versions with mould release (MRA), UV stability (UV) or both (UVR), flame-retardant grades, glass-fibre reinforced grades and a carbon-fibre grade. Recycled polycarbonate is available as the R series.

Polycarbonate absorbs about 0.2% moisture at room temperature, so pellets must be dried to below 0.02% before moulding. Drying and moulding conditions for every grade are in the processing guide.

FAQ

Questions

How long should polycarbonate be dried before moulding?

In a tray dryer with hot air, for more than 4 hours at 120 °C with a pellet layer no higher than 3 cm. In a hopper dryer, keep the inlet air at 100–120 °C. The target moisture content is below 0.02%.

What cylinder temperature is used for K-20/30/40 grades?

Nozzle 250–290 °C, front, middle and rear zones 270–300 °C, with a mould temperature of 75–100 °C. See the processing guide for all grades.

Is recycled polycarbonate available?

Yes — the R series (R-20, R-30, R-40 with MRA, UV and UVR versions, and the post-consumer grade R-20E), with Eco Leaf and Carbon Footprint of Products declarations.
